Course content
Multimedia compression techniques and storage principles. Fundamentals of multimedia communication, standards and services. Multimedia application. 3D graphics: 3D objects mathematical description, solids modelling, 3D models visualization. Audio and video processing (Adobe Premiere): audio and video files, import and editing, script, time axis, effects, subtitles, export. 3D modelling and animation (Autodesk 3ds max): setting up the scene, modelling, materials, lights, cameras, animation, rendering. Media integration into final electronic publication (Adobe Flash): panels, 2D graphics, masks, import, animation, basic interactivity, output.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to give an overview over multimedia technologies and professional software, to develop skills in audio, video and 3D graphics processing and final integration of all multimedia elements into electronic publication. The formats of common audio and video files and methods of their import, conversion, cut and editing using available software are clarified. Further, different methods and tools for 3D modelling, static 3D images design, animation and creation of electronic publications containing various multimedia are introduced.
On completion of this course, the student will be able to use Adobe Premiere, Autodesk 3ds max and Adobe Flash and to design and produce multimedia electronic publications.
Prerequisites
Knowledge of Prepress I and II and Typography courses. At least elementary English language skills and computer practice are recommended.

Assessment of the course is based on elaboration and presentation of the project that proves the ability to design multimedia publication with suitable structure and functionality, to work with audio, video and 3D graphics, and to integrate all multimedia elements into corresponding electronic publication.
