Course content |
Specific functions of the sexual organs and their disorders. Gynaecological examination. Developmental defects of the genitals and deviation of the genitals. Inflammation of the genitals. Tumours of the genitals. Education towards motherhood. Anticonception. Pregnancy. Prenatal care. Risk factors for foetal development. High-risk pregnancy. Genetic counselling. Labour and delivery. Obstetrical surgeries. Alternative methods in obstetrics. Puerperium. First aid during labour and delivery outside of the health care institution. The nursing process in the care of the woman with an inflammatory illness. The nursing process in the care of the woman after a gynaecological surgery. The nursing process in the care of the woman with a physiological and high-risk pregnancy. The nursing process in the care of the woman before, during, and after labour and delivery and in the puerperium.

Learning outcomes |
The aim of the part of the course that focuses on gynaecology is to acquaint the student with the field of gynaecology and especially with the physiology of the woman's reproductive system and with diseases of the genitals. The aim of the part of the course that focuses on obstetrics is to acquaint the student with the physiology of pregnancy, the course of labour, delivery and puerperium, with high-risk pregnancy, obstetrical surgeries, education towards motherhood and the issue of planned parenthood.
The student knows and works with modern examination methods, with organizing care of the woman and with the diagnostics and treatment of the diseases of the genitals. Students orient themselves on issues related to the nursing care of the pregnant woman. |

Completion of compulsory 80% attendance at the practicum sessions. Successful completion of a written or oral examination according to the course guarantor's decision. |
