Course content
|
Care for a patient in the perioperative environment through the nursing process. Use of NANDA domains in the diagnostic phase of the nursing process. Education of clients at all stages of the perioperative care. Management of pain. Care for medical devices at central sterilization and operating theatres. Doing the circulator nurse's duties in the perioperative care. Handling the instrumentarium and instrumenting during all the basic performances and procedures in general and thoracic surgery and gynaecology. Organization and management in perioperative care workplaces.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the subject is to engage students into health care practice (Complete oncological centre, facility for treatment of chronical defects, Hospice), and also enable the students to apply their theoretical knowledge in terms of clinical practice.
Students will become acquainted with the specific environment of the central sterilization, DAR-anaesthesia and operating theatres of the given discipline. They manage the individual steps in all phases of the sterilization and the care of medical devices used in the perioperative care, they are oriented in the basic instrumentarium for surgical procedures, and they manage basic assistance in these surgical procedures. They know and perform the work of a circulator nurse in the operating theatre. They participate in cooperation within the medical team, cooperate in patient care, respect, and observe applicable laws and standards.
