Course content
The instrumentation designed to open and laparoscopic operations - properties tool box, applied materials, the principles of manipulation with the instruments. Devices in perioperative care. Sewing and ligation material. Operating needles and implants. Protective clothing, operating masks and other surgical medical devices used in pre-operative care, pharmaceuticals, medical gases. Perioperative staff - passing through the filter, ensuring hand hygiene compliance in perioperative care, putting on sterile gown and gloves. Preparation of the operating room for surgery, operating theatre equipment, surgical sutures, surgical needles, implants and other supplies and aids in the perioperative process. Surgical field preparation, shaving, antisepsis of the surgical field, surgical drape application. Surgical instruments. Operating room management, aseptic procedures. Work of a scrub nurse or a circulating nurse in the operating room. Principles of instrumentation. Competences of providers of perioperative care. Ethical issues of perioperative care.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is mastery of the techniques of instrumentation and related care in the operating room.
Student knows the principles of instrumentation and all the used materials in the course of operations. Student performs all the duties perioperative nurses and the circulating midwife in the operating room. Student knows and performs the basic instrumentation for all types of operations.
