Course content
Health and its determinants. Health education methods. Healthy lifestyle. General epidemiology and its work methods. Hygiene and epidemiology in public health protection. Incidence of infectious illnesses and their protection. Prevention and incidence of nosocomial infections. Drug addiction issues. Occupational medicine. The EU and the WHO. Health policies of the WHO and the EU. Implementation of WHO policies at the national level. Kinds and forms of health care services and conditions for their provision in health care institutions. Health care statistics.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with complex issues of health politics of the state with primary focus on health prevention and support. The subject concerns international collaboration in health care, WHO structure, tasks and programs, basic kinds of health care system in the world and health protection establishments and their tasks.
The student will gain professional knowledge and skills from the area of health support and maintenance while following a healthy lifestyle, is able to use various educational methods in health care and illness prevention in individuals, groups, and the whole socity. He/she knows fundamentals of hygiene and epidemiology in relation to public health protection and applies gained knowledge and skill to practice. He/she is acquainted with national and supra-national organization and application of health care policies and is able to use this insight in his/her work.

Completion of compulsory 60% attendance at the lectures. Completing assigned written work.
