Course content
Pedagogy as a scientific discipline. Pedagogical principles. Educational reality: basic terms and relations. Types of education. Educational process, learning. The subject of an education, the profession of an educator. Educational environment. Didactics in nursing and in midwifery. Traditional and activating methods of education. Midwife in the role of an educator. EUR model. Alternative teaching methods used in education. Discussion about the profession of an educator in healthcare. Basic assumptions of education. Didactic principles in midwifery. Drawing an education plan. Organization of an educational plan. Evaluation of education. Criteria for evaluation of the educator and the educatee.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the subject is to acquaint students with the basic concepts and topics of pedagogy and education. Students apply the knowledge and experience gained during the lectures and seminars into practice of the educational process.
Students are able to draw an educational plan using the correct didactic groundings in midwifery for the education of the healthy, the sick and the disabled in all developmental periods. Students are able to evaluate the educational process. In the complex planning of education, students are familiar with the model of E.U.R. - evocation, awareness of meaning and reflection.
