Course content
The organization and system of work in the delivery room. Equipment in the birthing centre. Receiving and preparing expectant mothers for childbirth. Education of expectant mothers. Exercise during childbirth. Documentation in the delivery room. Midwifery in the first stage of labour. Midwifery in the second and third stage of labour. Midwifery in the fourth stage of labour. Independent management of labour: practice, fundamentals of instrumentation.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to become acquainted with the basic terminology and with practical skills in the area of prenatal and perinatal care. This is an essential part of obstetrics, focused on monitoring of the mother's and the foetus's health status in the course of gravidity and childbirth.
The student independently performs the basic components of the prenatal diagnosis and is able to become an integral part of the diagnostic team in the area of the prenatal diagnostics and genetic counselling.

Assessment methods and criteria
Work-related product analysis, Didactic test

Completion of compulsory 80% attendance at the practicum sessions. Successful completion of a written test. Successful completion of a practical examination in the skills laboratory (it will be a precondition for internship in the delivery room).
