Course content
|
Physiological birth. Birth forces and birth journey. Birth injury. Pain in childbirth. The methods of obstetric analgesia. The newborn from the obstetrician's point of view. Birth injury to the foetus. Foetal hypoxia. Cardiotocography. Amnioscopy. ST analysis. Intranatal and postnatal examination of acid-base balance and blood gases. Intrapartum pulse oximetry. Physiological puerperium.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the course of gravidity, labour and delivery, and puerperium, with the possible complications and risk factors.
Students build on their knowledge of anatomy, physiology, embryonology, and genetics. To a large extent, the students use especially their knowledge from the field of internal medicine. Students become familiar with obstetrical issues and they use their theoretical and practical knowledge of the field in the practical courses.
