Course content
History of health and social care for individuals with disabilities. A person with a mental disability. A person with a physical disability. A person with a rare disease. A person with a mental illness. A person with dementia. Health and social counselling for people with disabilities. Alternative and augmentative communication. Benefits, services and compensatory aids. Issue of legal capacity and autonomy. Social methods with people with health and mental disabilities. Sexuality of people with disabilities. Visiting services for people with mental illnesses.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to characterize and define the basic specifics of persons with physical, sensory, mental, and intellectual disabilities, and to introduce students to the possibilities of support in the concept of comprehensive rehabilitation of these people and to guide them in optimizing their professional approach towards these people.
Students will learn a comprehensive approach to addressing the needs of people with disabilities and they will integrate their acquired knowledge into a comprehensive understanding of health and social work.
