Course content
The midwife's care of the woman in physiological puerperium. Physical assessment of the puerperal woman. Education in the puerperal period. The midwife's care of the woman after delivery with a voiding or defecation disorder, or with an injury to the perineum. The midwife's care of the woman after delivery with bleeding. The midwife's care of the woman with lactation disorders and with puerperal psychosis. The midwife's care of the woman with puerperal infection. The midwife's care of the puerperal woman with vein inflammation, embolus of the pulmonary artery, and pulmonary infarction.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to introduce students to the care of a woman during puerperium and to the associated health, psychological and social risks. It is a continuation of the material covered in the obstetrics courses.
Students know and perform midwifery care of a woman during the puerperium period. They are familiar with the alternative methods provided to the mother-in-labour during the delivery.

Assessment methods and criteria
Home assignment evaluation

Completion of compulsory attendance at the practicum sessions. Students work on an assigned task during their studies. Completion of a written test or oral examination according to the course guarantor's decision.
