Course content
The phenomenon of homelessness. Forms of social work with the citizens without shelter. Social and health care for citizens without shelter. Characteristics of the homeless. Asylum care. The prevention of homelessness. History and present of the Roma. The specifics of social work with the Roma community. Social programs in socially excluded groups and locations. Homelessness in the European union and in the world. Social work with the homeless - case studies. Caring for persons at risk of social exclusion - case reports. Survey - the relationship of the Czech population towards the Roma. Discussion on the topic of racism. The results of the survey. Analysis of social programs in particular, socially excluded localities.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the problems of social work with socially excluded groups.
Student knows the basic concepts in the subject. Student is versed in the current situation of the target group. He can apply appropriate methods and techniques of social work when working with socially excluded groups.
