Course content

The possibilities of using animals to the treatment of the psyche and personality of the person. The theoretical comprehensive overview animotherapeutic techniques - hippotherapy. Canistherapy. Felinotherapy. Other options of the appropriate therapeutic use of animals with different diseases and disabilities. Practical demonstration of hippotherapy. Practical demonstration of therapy. Excursion with a demonstration of animotherapy for persons with mental disabilities. The practical use of animotherapy in early care. The practical use of animotherapy in the elderly. Presentation of case studies.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the course is to give a comprehensive overview of the broad possibilities in the application of therapeutic abilities of domesticated animals to the treatment of the psyche and personality of a person, also for the stimulation of social and emotional communication in domestic and institutional environment.
Student will gain theoretical knowledge and practical skills in using of animotherapy (zootherapy) in the therapeutic care and services.
