Course content
The use of alternative methods in obstetrics - introduction. Aromatherapy, phytotherapy, and massage in pregnancy and childbirth. Hydrotherapy and its importance in pregnancy and childbirth. Music therapy and relaxation techniques in pregnancy and childbirth. Acupressure and acupuncture in pregnancy and childbirth. The methodology and significance of active childbirth. Accompanying persons present at childbirth. The midwife's care of the woman during childbirth at home and during outpatient childbirth.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to introduce students to the care of a woman during puerperium and to the associated health, psychological and social risks. It is a continuation of the material covered in the obstetrics courses.
Students know and perform midwifery care of a woman during the puerperium period. They are familiar with the alternative methods provided to the mother-in-labour during the delivery.

Assessment methods and criteria
Home assignment evaluation

Completion of compulsory attendance at the practicum sessions. Students work on an assigned task during their studies. Completion of a written test or oral examination according to the course guarantor's decision.
