Gerontology and basic concepts of the field. Current problems of the ageing population. Family context of the person with dementia. Counselling seniors and their families. Ethical aspects of elderly care. Unregistered social service providers. Active ageing, education of seniors. Current problems of social care for the elderly. Abuse of the elderly in families and institutions. Issues of autonomy of the elderly and special pension recipients. Specific approaches in working with demented elderly.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the course is to give students knowledge in the field of social work with the elderly.
Student knows basic knowledge about old age and aging from the point of view of social context. Learners can apply relevant methods of social work when working with the elderly and versed in the issues of providing care for the elderly.
