Course content
In the semminar students should read texts chosen from Jewish legal (halakha) and ethical (musar) literature. For instance Mishneh Torah, Shulchan Arukh, Tomer Devorah and Sefer ha-Chinukh...etc.

Learning outcomes
The objective of this course is to introduce students to the basic texts of Judaism. The seminar will also be focused on hermeneutics, the processes of canonization and edition of texts. This course is designed for experienced students in reading Hebrew texts.
Students will read and analyze original texts. The course is linked to the course of Hebrew language and course of Reading of Hebrew Canonical Texts and enhances the gained knowledge. Students should acquire increased proficiency in working with modern Hebrew texts.
Prerequisites
Exam from Hebrew Language and experience in reading Hebrew texts.

Assessment methods and criteria
Creative work analysis, Discussion

Credit is dependent on the regular preparation of texts; 80% attendance; reading the commentaries and secondary literature; and passing an oral exam. Students will be given one of the texts and will prove through it that they have gained some knowledge of Hebrew grammar, as well as in translating and interpreting texts from the Judaic tradition.
