Choice of a topic; formulation of a suggestion; formulation of an assignment. Rules and norms of writing diploma theses, (required by university, faculty, department). Working with sources. Structure of scientific text. How to divide a larger work. Scientific language, terminology, style. Graphic arrangement of the diploma and similar theses.

|
The objective of this course is to help students in the first phase of writing their diploma thesis, especially in regard to common questions and problems. This will be provided as consultations in groups.
The course, as well as the individual consultations with a supervisor, will help students to write a diploma thesis successfully. It will help to develop their skills in writting a scientific text, in working with scientific literature and other sources, and with appropriate time-management of the work.

Students will obtain credit if they attend individual and group consultations and if they hand in a four-page text that contains a plan of the work, a detailed segmentation, and a list of literature and other sources, a formulation of a hypothesis or questions, and a description of the methods to be used.
