Course content
Pre-islamic Arabia. The origin of Islam, Muhammad. The Quran, its content, form, and editions. History of Islamic prophecy. Sunna, Islamic traditions. The exegesis of the Quran.

Learning outcomes
The objective of this course is to introduce students to the basic principals of Islam, including its liturgy, dogmatics, history of prophecy, laws, and so on.
The student will gain an understanding of the structure of basic sources, e.g. the Quran and Sunna.
