Course content
An introduction to the study of the psychology of religion. Historical perspective of the psychology of religion. The history of psychology and an outline of psychological schools. Religion from the perspective of psychoanalysis (S. Freud). Religion from the perspective of analytical psychology (C. G. Jung). Religion from the perspective of humanistic psychology (E. Fromm, A. H. Maslow, G. W. Allport). Religion from the perspective of logotherapy (V. E. Frankl). Religion from the perspective of transpersonal psychology (S. Grof). Religion and developmental psychology. Religion and the psychology of the personality. Religion and social psychology. Religion as an experience.

Learning outcomes
The objective of this course is to inform students about the most important questions concerning the psychological dimension of religion, the approaches of various psychological schools, the problems of religious development, the relationship of religion and personality, the social dimension of religious feeling, and religious experiences.
Student will acquire a greater ability to employ psychological approaches to religion in his research. The course will also enable him to interpret religious experiences more easily.

The prerequisite for the exam is to write an essay on the psychology of religion and a review of both titles from the primary literature. The exam is oral, and a student should demonstrate his knowledge of the topics dealt with during the lectures and display an even deeper knowledge of the problem dealt with in the essay. Attendance at lectures is obligagory (min. 8O%).
