Learning outcomes
|
To introduce students to the anthropological approaches towards Roma, to the construction of groups and identities and to the main discourses, which are competing around definitions of Roma. These approaches will be illustrated with the help of "classical" topics like strategies of survival, but as well on marginalization and the current state and international politics. Students should get the competence of critical reading and working with texts.

Assessment methods and criteria

Home assignment evaluation, Work-related product analysis
1) Reading regularly texts for each lesson, participation in discussions. 2) Each week one or more students prepares a critical discussion of a text. 3) Argumentative essay at least four pages long.
