Course content |
The Roma and Romani studies as political element. Basic data on the Roma in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Ethno-social, linguistic and demographic characteristics. Basic data on the Roma in the world. Ethnic stereotypes. Values and mentality of the Roma.

Learning outcomes |
The objective of the course is to introduce the students to the problems of Roma studies in the Czech Republic and in the world. Students will be introduced to the methods and terminology in this field of study, to the basic Czech and foreign Romani literature.
A student will gain a basic view and an orientation in this field; he will be able to define basic terms and will acquire key competences for possible field research in Romani communities. |
