Course content
Introduction. Transport engineering and safety of transport. Transport engineering measurements for organizing and regulation of transport. System of road sign. Intensity determination to the roads. Capacity of road communications and intersections. Survey of capacity of road communications and proposals for congestion removing. Signalized intersections - general principles. Influence of signalling on required construction characteristics of intersection. Signalized intersections - proposal of signalling programme. System of control. Signalized intersections - "green wave". Signalized intersections - reference to vehicles of public mass transport, cyclists and pedestrians. Demonstration of transport engineering projects.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monologic (reading, lecture, briefing), Dialogic (discussion, interview, brainstorming), Work with text (with textbook, with book), Skills training
Learning outcomes
The aim of the subject is to inform student about the question of transport engineering measurements in the urban areas with their feedback to sustainable transport, capacity and safety of roads networks.
Students will obtain basic knowledge of existing legislation, norms and technical conditions related to traffic engineering measures on roads inside and outside of the urban areas in the Czech Republic. On the basis of these guidelines students will be able to design changes of traffic organization and regulation on road network. Students will be able to perform road and junction capacity assessment and design the traffic lights at junction.
Prerequisites
unspecified

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination, Written examination, Work-related product analysis

For students of the full-time study participation in an examination is conditioned by obtaining a course credit. The obtained course credit confirms that the full-time student attended the lessons in the required amount, that he/she met the requirements for acquiring the course credit and may proceed to take the examination. Conditions for acquiring the course credit are stipulated by the teacher during the first week of the semester lecture period. The examination in the subject (its form, content and duration) is determined in compliance with the Study and Examination Regulations of the University of Pardubice.
