Course content
History and currant trends of development of logistic centers (LC) in the World. The importance and position of LC in logistic systems. Planning of public LC, location models, optimization of LC positions. Forms and organization models of LC. The function of LC and the service spectrum. Technical and technological conception of LC, transloading and warehousing systems, additional systems. Information and communication systems, possibilities of EDI, RFID and EAN (barcode) usage. Light industrial zones and their integration into logistics. City-terminals and city-logistics. Progressive transportation systems in city-logistics and regional logistics. Area service theory. Distribution technologies. Intermodal transport in relation to LC. New trends of logistics and transport processes. ITS technologies. Planning and realization of international LCs in the Czech Republic. Spare time, subject summary.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the subject is to offer information about establishing and operating of logistic centers and their importance in logistic chains.
After passing the subject, the student is able to characterize forms of logistic centers, their function in logistic chains and basic principles of planning of logistic centers.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination

The credit confirms that the student has attended the lessons in certain frequency and that has fulfilled all requirements. The conditions of credit awarding depend on the teacher. The examination (form, content, length) is given by "Study and Examination Order".
