Course content
System Concept and its meaning - definition of system, behaviouristic definition, status definition, examples of systems. Basic features of systems - finality, linearity, determinism, randomness, uncertainty, systems with a target behavior and management, quality, reliability and system stability. Typical system problems - analysis and synthesis of hard and soft systems, Checkland's methodology, composition and decomposition systems, decision-making problems, scheduling problems in systems. Genesis of Decision Problems - selecting of a problem, research team, organisational chart and its analysis, verbal model of optimizing problem, other types of models. Network systems - basic concepts of network systems, decomposition of network systems, typical decision-making problems in network systems. Division of network systems - transport systems, telecommunication systems, informational systems. Selected parts of information system theory - number of information in a message, entropy as a rate of freedom to choice, coding. Transport systems - transport systems terminology, transport networks, doses and flows. Transport demand and its modelling - discrete models, collecting of data about doses, continuous models, source and destination flows - trip generation, routing of flows - trip distribution, Modal Split, assignment of flows into network - Traffic Assignment. Transport supply and its optimizing - space, time and source (machine) schedules Network tasks - selection of sub-networks, location of service centres, proposing of set of lines and long-distance relations, time schedules - time tables, optimizing of time schedule of one connection, division of connections between two nodes into 24 hrs., coordination of time schedules in public passenger transport in interchanging points and on links. Scheduling of vehicles - freight transport and its specific problems with scheduling of vehicles, fleet optimizing, utilizing of cargo space, specific problems of passenger transport, optimizing of courses of vehicles and personnel by fixed time schedules.
