Course content |
The topic of theory of transport. Transport systems. Transport network and the model of transport network. Basic tasks related to transport networks. Optimal location of service centres. Design of structure of distribution systems. Hub and spoke systems. Collection and distribution tasks (routes). Collection and utilization of transport complete sets. Circulations of equipment optimization of circulations. Design of signalling plan for signalized road junction (by traffic lights). Optimization of public transport network. Optimization of time schedules. Characteristics of transport flow. Capacity problems of transport networks. Basics of transport demand modelling.

Learning outcomes |
The aim of the subject is to inform students about selected optimization and decision-making problems in transport and to teach students to formulate an adequate mathematical model for these problems and then to apply this model for solution of task. Presentation of the matter is designed in the way of abstraction from specific features of individual transport modes. Students will become well-oriented in the field of subject and will know how to apply these procedures in the case of solving of optimization and decision-making tasks after graduation from the subject.
After passing, student is able to use technical terms from transport system area, is able to formulate and solve typical optimizing and decision-making tasks from theory of transport area. |

Assessment methods and criteria |
Written examination
For students of the full-time study participation in an examination is conditioned by obtaining a course credit. The obtained course credit confirms that the full-time student attended the lessons in the required amount, that he/she met the requirements for acquiring the course credit and may proceed to take the examination. Conditions for acquiring the course credit are stipulated by the teacher during the first week of the semester lecture period. The examination in the subject (its form, content and duration) is determined in compliance with the Study and Examination Regulations of the University of Pardubice. |
