Course content
1. The position of railway transport in the transport system of the Czech Republic and the European area. 2. Current legal framework, Railway interoperability, 4th railway package, ERTMS, ETCS. 3. Capacity of railway lines 4. Measures to amend the Capacity 5. TEN - T network - railway corridors - freight corridors, conventional and high - speed network. 6. Infrastructure for freight rail transport. 7. Processes in the marshalling yard 8. Collection of wagons, capacity of the marshalling yard. 9. Optimization of freight trains and wagons in train formation station. 10. Approach to the development of high-speed transport in the Czech Republic 11. Management in railway transport and ITC support - infrastructure manager 12. Management in railway transport and ITC support - railway undertaking 13. Management in non-standard situations (exclusions).

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the technology and management of rail transport and the possibilities of their optimization, with the impacts of European law and interoperability on the operation of rail transport - from the perspective of infrastructure manager and railway undertaking, to solve problems related to optimal line capacity.
After completing the course, the student is able to optimize selected processes in railway transport, capacity problems of railway lines, management from the perspective of the infrastructure managers and railway undertaking.

Basic knowledge of railway transport technology - terminology, legal framework, timetable construction

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination

The condition for participation in the exam is for students of the full-time form of study to obtain a credit. The credit confirms that the student has participated in the teaching to the required extent and that he / she has met the requirements that were conditional on the granting of the credit, and can proceed to passing the exam. The conditions for granting the credit are determined by the teacher in the first week of the lecture period of the semester. Examination of the subject is written, specific conditions are set by the teacher in the first lesson, in accordance with the Study and Examination Regulations of University of Pardubice.
