Course content

1. Determination of traffic intensity on roads. 2. Traffic intensity forecast. 3. Capacity of road sections. 4. Capacity of an uncontrolled intersection. 5. Capacity of the roundabout. 6. Capacity of level crossing. 7. Organization of traffic at intersections controlled by traffic lights. 8. Construction arrangement of intersections controlled by SSZ. Taking pedestrians and cyclists into account when designing an intersection. 9. Design of signal program and structure of signal plan. 10. Capacity of the intersection controlled by SSZ. 11. Control of intersections in coordination (green wave). 12. Determining the capacity of roads and proposals for removing congestion. 13. Traffic engineering measures for the organization and regulation of transport - their impact on transport safety. As part of the exercise, students in groups work on a comprehensive project on proposals to change the organization of traffic at selected intersections, which will increase the capacity of the intersection and safety for all road users (analysis of the current state, including implementation and evaluation of traffic surveys, proposals and their evaluation).

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the issue of traffic engineering measures, especially in municipalities and their relationship to the sustainability of transport, capacity and safety of road networks. The course is a free continuation of the course Spatial Planning in Transport (recommended 1 / WS). After completing this course, the student will have an overview of existing legislation, standards and technical conditions related to traffic engineering measures on roads in urban areas and in urban areas. With the help of these aids, he should be able to propose measures to change the organization and regulation of traffic on the road network, assess the intersection, design the appropriate type of intersection, calculate the capacity of intersections and roads and suggest the use of traffic lights at the intersection.
