Science and scientism. The development of the interpretation of a research. Methodological problems of the interpretation of a research. The scientific method. Quantitative and qualitative methods of a research. The problem of scientism in natural sciences and humanities. Types and kinds of the research in the humanities. The validity of the interpretation of the outcomes of a research. An overview of research implements. The method of evaluation techniques.

Learning outcomes
|
The objective of the course is to make students understand basic methodological approaches to the problems of scientific research, and introduce them the quantitative and qualitative research.
The student will be able to put into practice an easier research. He/she will be able to formulate the hypothesis,implement data collection, interpret a research, write a report and so on.

Assessment methods and criteria

Written examination, Home assignment evaluation
Credit is based on a seminar paper (group work) - a description of a realized research project. The presentation of a review of a scholarly publication in the seminar, and 80% attendance.
