Course content
The concept of a law, sources of a law, subjects of a law. Realization of a law, creating a law. Symbols and forms of a state. The constitutional system in the Czech Republic. Civil law - factual law. Civil law - law obligations (contract of purchase, contract of donation). Civil law - renting a flat. Civil law - right of inheritance. Family law - marriage. Family law - adoption, foster care. Labour law - employment - origin, change and cessation. Criminal law - the concept of a criminal act. Criminal law - sentences. Criminal law - criminal prosecution. Law arrangement of university colleges.

Learning outcomes
The objective of this course is to introduce to students the basic terms of legal theory, and to provide a brief summary of the sources of the legal and constitutional system in the Czech Republic. Students will learn about private law, especially civil law and partly labor law. The course will end with a brief summary of the problem of competition and compensation.
The students will be able to understand the legal system in the Czech Republic. They will be able to enter the legal terms judiciously and responsibly.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written examination

The basic knowledge of constitutional law n. 1/1993Sb., the Constitution of the Czech Republic, chosen parts (specified in seminars) of law n.89/2012 Sb., civil code, law n.99/1963, juridical code, law n.262/2006 Sb., labour code.
