Course content

Special pedagogy, its focus and relation to other disciplines. The branches of special pedagogy. Historical development of special pedagogy. The system of care of a handicapped individual. Psychopedia. Somatopedia Speech therapy. Tyflopedia s Surdopedia. Etopedie. Specific developmental and behavior disorders.

Learning outcomes
|
The course builds on the students´ knowledge gained in the courses of pedagogy and psychology that were mastered during the previous study. The attention will be paid to the special pedagogy and its position within other pedagogical disciplines, to the formation of special pedagogy and to the themes connected with handicapped individuals and majority society. The focus will be also on the practical use of the approaches to special pedagogy in pedagogical career.
The students will enhance their knowledge in the field of special pedagogy with regard to the students´ specialization.

Attendance at least 80%. A written assignment. Self-study of the obligatory and recommended sources.
