Learning outcomes
The subject acquaints the students with surface treatments through coating compositions issues. Essential raw materials necessary for coating compositions production as bindings, colouring pigments and reduced pigments, solvents and additives are analysed. Principles of coating compositions formulation, dispersing physical and physicochemical aspects and equipment for dispersing are listed. An excursion to the manufacturing plants and companies dealing with production of coating compositions and raw materials for coating compositions is organized during semester. Aim of the subject is to acquaint the students with all aspects essential for coating compositions formulation and preparation.
Graduate is able to prepare coating compositions formulations of desired mechanical and anti-corrosion properties after graduation from this subject.
Prerequisites
Knowledge of inorganic and physical chemistry.
Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination
There is an oral examination. Primary form of exam is the debate about selected themes. Level of acquired knowledge, conceptions and application acquirements is examined. Knowledge is examined by test during semester and its result is included into total classification.
