Course content
|
Week 1: Introduction to the macrostructure of wood. Week 2: Getting to know the microstructure of wood. 3rd week: Microscopic analysis of wood. 4th week: Microscopic determination of the type of wood material. 5th week: Microscopy of technical pulps - determining the origin of fibers. Week 6: Microscopy of technical pulps - determination of the type of pulp batch. 7th week: Preparation of pulp using the nitric-alkaline method. 8th week: Chemical analysis of pulp, determination of alpha-cellulose. 9th week: Chemical analysis of pulp, determination of hemicelluloses. 10th week: Chemical analysis of sulfite leachates: determination of lignin content. 11th week: Chemical analysis of sulphite leachates: determination of the amount of sulfur and reducing substances. 12th week: Determination of mechanical and physical properties of paper and cardboard. Week 13: Waste water analysis.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the subject is to create a basic idea of papermaking materials, raw materials and papermaking products in the student's mind, especially taking into account their basic physical and chemical properties.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Home assignment evaluation, Student performance assessment
Students submit the results of their experimental work for review, which they then process in writing in a laboratory protocol.
