Learning outcomes

The course aims to deepen the knowledge of doctoral students in the field of protection and surface treatment of metallic and non-metallic materials using paints and organic coatings and to acquaint with new directions in the development of new functional coatings, especially in their formulations and the formation of these coatings or layers. Numerous functional coatings and their components based on organic binders are characterized, such as anti-corrosion coatings, conductive coatings, coatings with antimicrobial and photocatalytic effects, coatings referred to as smart coatings and many others currently being developed and coatings or layers with special properties. To this end, the composition and formulation of these paints and functional coatings, individual layers and methods of their preparation and application, as well as chemical, physical pretreatments and surface treatments are discussed.
