Course content
Sources of the energy and raw materials, renewable and non renewable sources Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control (IPPC), permission for production, BAT, BREF. Waste incineration Landfilling Physical methods for waste water treatment Chemical methods for waste water treatment Elimination of emissions of sulfur dioxide and NOx Sulfuric acid production Ammonia production Nitric acid production Phosphoric acid production Production of fertilizers Production of chlorine and sodium hydroxide Hydrochloric acid production Production of inorganic pigments

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monologic (reading, lecture, briefing), Projection
Learning outcomes
The aim of this subject is to introduce students with modern chemical methods using Best Available Techniques and emission minimization.
After finishing of the studies at this subject, absolvents should be able to choose appropriate type of production method of inorganic compounds and also should be able to take some measures (to choose appropriate technologies) leading to reduction of emission produced in chemical industry.
Prerequisites
General and Inorganic Chemistry I

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination, Student performance assessment

There is an oral examination. Primary form of exam is the debate about selected themes. Level of acquired knowledge, conceptions and application acquirements is examined.
Recommended literature
  • Dokumenty BAT (Best Available Techniques).
  • Slezák M. Ekologické aspekty chemických technologií a technologie zpracování odpadů, I. díl. Univerzita Pardubice, 2004.
