Course content
Waste waters, characterization, BOD, COD. Legislation of water resources management. Mechanical treatment - sedimentation tanks. Theories, design calculations. Flotation. Chemical methods of waste water treatment - clarification and coagulation. Design calculations of devices. Chemical methods of waste water treatment - neutralization, coagulation, oxidation and reduction. Membrane processes of waste water treatment - microfiltration, reverse osmosis, electro-osmosis. Ion exchange at waster water treatment. Reactor technique - basic terms of bioreactors, subject balance. Biological methods of waster water treatment - basic principles, regularities of biological processes. Activation processes - devices description, modeling and designing. Detail description of action, behaviour and control of aeration tank operation. Methods of removing of phosphorus compounds and nitrogen compounds from waste waters.

Learning outcomes
The aim of this subject is to inform students about methods of waste water treatment and fundamental legislative.
The student is able to orientate in the problems associated with waste water treatment.

Mathematic I, Physics I, Basic physical chemistry, Chemical engineering I

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination, Written examination, Student performance assessment

Oral examination. Basic form of examination is discussion concerning several areas of the subject matter.
