Course content
Neutralization of acidic model waste water using limestone and Ca(OH)2; comparison of efficiency of both reagents. Removal of iron from contaminated water using aeration and alkalization by NaOH. Removal of CO2 from water by aeration and neutralization. Investigation of adsorption rate. Investigation of ion exchange capacity. Application of Fenton oxidation for removal of non-biodegradable organic pollutants from model waste water. Application of chemical oxidation for removal of non-biodegradable organic pollutants from model waste water. Possibility of application of ozonation for water treatment in dyes production. Application of photolysis for water treatment. Technique for removal of phosphate salts from polluted water. Comparison of different effects on rate of electrochemical corrosion of construction materials. DMFC-methanol based fuel cell and its characteristics.

Learning outcomes
The aim of this subject is to introduce students with modern laboratory chemical methods for green and sustainable production of chemicals and for emission minimization.
After finishing of the studies at this subject, absolvents should be able to work in the laboratory in a wide range of industries.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written examination, Student performance assessment

Level of acquired knowledge, conceptions and application acquirements is examined. Knowledge is examined by test at the end of semester and its result is included into total classification.
