Introduction to electrochemistry: potentiometric equilibrium, Nernst-Peterson equation I. and II. Faraday principles, polarization, polarization curves and characterization of electrode processes Rate of electrode processes, equation of polarization curve Reversibility and irreversibility of electrode processes, liquid potential Principle and usage of adsorptive voltammetry for the observation of surface active substances Comparison of adsorptive and depolarization signals, importance and application in the environment Principles of polarization; DC-voltammetry, cyclic voltammetry Principles of AC, pulse, differential pulse, depolarization, adsorptive-desorptive and combined modes of analysis Stripping and adsorptive electrochemical modes, properties of mercury electrode and solid electrodes Principles and application of coulometry, chronoamperometry and chronopotentiometry Actual usage of polarization in environment protection Examples of electrochemical technologies with the environmental influences Potentiometry Biosensors

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of this subject is to familiarize the students with basics of general and application electrochemistry, new principles and usage possibilities in various areas of environment creation and protection.
Students can apply the obtained knowledge in different fields; in laboratory and also in running of the enterprise, during the field work and also at the office, in area of water service, environmental science, industrial production, building industries, geology, hygiene, agriculture and medicine, pharmacy, mining and elaboration of minerals, etc.

Prerequisites

Basic knowledge of instrumental analysis in the scope of bachelor study of technical chemistry.

Oral examination
The final exam has only oral part.
