Course content
The subject deals with the individual types of propellants, theory of burning of their various types, their properties and applications, technology of production, and their testing. Also presented are general requirements for chemical stability, storability and environmental problems connected with their production and use. Students are further introduced to: the propellant propulsion theory with respect to the various groups of the propellants, problems of stability, storability and environmental issues connected with their production and use.

Learning outcomes
The goal of this course is to provide students with a basic knowledge of technological processes related to the production of gun powders and other propellants used in civil as well as military applications.
The successful completion of course provides student with basic background in the area of propellants including their basic properties. He/she is capable of preliminary selection of suitable propellant for particular application with respect to the technological availability. Completion of this course is a mandatory presumption for the following lectures: Technology of energetic materials 3, 4, Laboratory 2, 3.
