Course content
Importance of regulations and procedures. Role of deviations. Properties of flammable liquids. Explosion dangerous environment. Manipulation with flammable liquids. Vapour clouds explosions. Vapour clouds formation. Hot work permits. Liquefied gases behaviour. Accidents with LPG and LNG. Domino effects and protection of tanks with LPG. Pressure protection, integrity. Properties of flammable gases. Material safety data sheets. Toxic clouds dispersion. Integrity control of large tanks. Defence in depth. Transportation of dangerous goods. Release investigation. Recurrence prevention. Examples of typical fires. Fire load. Fire risk. Fire prevention, detection, mitigation and extinguishing. Explosions of high explosives. Accidents with industrial fertiliser explosions. Dust explosions. Explosion prevention and mitigation. Runaways. Environmental impact assessment. Major-accident prevension. Dangerous substances and hazards. Accidents with oxidants, water, air, inerts. Human factor. Safety culture. Safety management systems. Industrial accidents which changed world.

Learning outcomes
Provide students with basic knowledge on motivation for safety management in industrial processes and on tools and techniques which are applied in industry.
Graduate understands meaning and structure of safety management systems. He/she is oriented in issues and tasks which are characteristic for safety assurance in industrial processes and is informed about relevant legislation. The course is recommended as preparation one for Safety Engineering.
