Introduction and definitions. History of pyrotechnic (Greek fire, black powder, color flame compositions). Components of pyrotechnic compositions (oxidizers, fuels, color producing agents, smoke dyes, binding agents). Principles of burn rate control, designing of pyrotechnic compositions, stoichiometry. Light and color in pyrotechnics. Types of pyrotechnic compositions (signal, illuminating, MTV and flash compositions, thermites, delay compositions, matches, priming, smoke and special types of pyrotechnic compositions). Technologies for the pyrotechnic composition preparation and production, ecology and toxicology of pyrotechnic mixtures. Pyrotechnic initiators (theory of initiation, types and characteristics of initiators).
