Course content
Introduction and history of the insurance industry and insurance. Risks and insurance. Types of insurence. Commercial insurance. Reinsurance. Business risks of insurance companies. Life insurance. Non-life insurance. Insurance regulation. Insurance market.

Monologic (reading, lecture, briefing), Methods of individual activities, Skills training

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with basic concepts of insurance, helping them to focus on insurance and individual insurance, including understanding of commercial insurance and insurance risk management.
A student who has successfully completed a subject can: explain the historical context and importance of insurance; characterize commercial insurance; characterize collateral and its significance; characterize the business risks of insurance companies; characterize life insurance and its types; characterize non-life insurance and its types; explain the meaning of insurance regulation. A student who successfully completed the subject will: orientate in the field of insurance; to focus on the offer of insurance products; analyze the development of the insurance market; to interpret the importance of individual insurance for economic entities. A student who successfully completed the subject is able to: to use their expertise and skills to solve the problems of insurance risks; comprehensibly and convincingly to experts and laymen information about the kind of professional problems in the field of insurance and their own opinion on their solution.
