Course content
Overwiev of fundamentals of management and public sector The differences between private and public sector management Innovations in public sector Project management Strategic management Quality in public sector Methods of management applied in public sector Control in public sector Specifics of management in selected branches of public sector Human resource management, motivation and leadership in public sector

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to acquaint the students with the information about application of management in public sector with the accent put on decision making, innovation and quality as well as the information about strategic development and project management. The study follows up with the course Management. The course applies the knowledge of essentials of management in public sector further extended with the accent put on consecutive and continuous managerial functions, decision making processes, innovation, quality and marketing. The second part of lectured topics includes problems of strategic management including management of change and project management focused on public sector.
A student can apply knowledge management foundations to the public sector with an emphasis on managerial functions, innovation, quality and marketing. They will be able to solve some model problems what appear in common practice of public administration officers.
Prerequisites
Students must know the basics of management, namely functions of management and be able to understand the principles of connections and functioning. Furthermore, students must know the principles of public administration and its functioning, including the basic principles of operation of the public sector in general.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination, Written examination, Home assignment evaluation

The assignment is granted upon assignment test (more than 60%). The examination is written, oral or both.
