Course content
|
World economy definition and its position in the economic sciences. World economy development stages to 2010. Theoretical and practical aspects of international trade as a key element of the global economy. Integration processes and their benefits and disadvantages for the global economic center. The process of globalization and its impact on the autonomy of economic policy and economic situation of the world's economic centers. New Economy and its practical implications in the context Condratieff waves. The knowledge economy and the importance of improving human capital in the context of competitiveness in the world's economic centers. Economic growth and structural development in the world in the first decade of the 21st century. The position of the Czech republic in the world economy in the first decade of the 21st century. The debt crisis of the world's economies in the beginning of the second decade of the 21 century.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the course is to introduce basic features and development trends of the world economy in the point of view of production factors, international economic relations and mechanisms of its functioning together with the presumable directions of its further development.
Students will be able to use basic information about the world economy development, its segments and main changes at the turn of the millennium. Furthermore, students will be well informed about the processes of globalization and regionalization of the world economy and possibilities of the Czech Republic engagement in the international division of labour.

Prerequisite of study is general knowledge of economics.

|
Oral examination, Written examination, Home assignment evaluation, Student performance assessment
The graded assignment is granted upon completion of the seminar paper and written test.
