Course content
Fundamental concepts in the field of health, health services and health policy. Health care in relation to economic theory. State interference in the field of health care. Health systems in the world and fundamental reform trends in different countries. Public health insurance, fundamentals concepts, definitions and system functioning. Pharmaceutical policy. Health insurance companies in the Czech Republic. Health services financing. Ownership forms and economics of health care facilities. Territorial network of media facilities. Managed care. Health care quality and its evaluation. Czech health care reform. Health care multi-financing. Specifics of strategic management in the field of health care.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the subject is to provide a theoretical basis for the issue, allowing the emergence of university graduates into managerial positions in health care, insurance and administrative organizations.
Students will understand causes, specifics and consequences of the economic processes in health care and he/she will be able to use the acquired theoretical knowledge in the field of not only this one but also related areas.
Prerequisites
Assumes a basic knowledge of the student on the Economics and Public Administration at the undergraduate level.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination, Written examination, Home assignment evaluation

Assignment: submission and acceptance of seminar works and other tasks. Exam: written and oral.
