Learning outcomes
The proseminar is a compulsory introductory course for first-year students. Successful completion is a prerequisite for continuing further studies. The course content includes an annotated presentation of basic professional literature and periodicals, an introduction to and practice of basic professional nomenclature and terminology, an insight into the compositional and layout principles of historical architecture, and the characteristics of individual architectural styles. This includes a basic introduction to the general typology of historical architecture.
Graduates of the course will have access to information about basic professional literature and historical and contemporary periodicals in the field, knowledge of which is key to a deeper understanding of the history of building culture in the Czech lands. They will also be familiarized with and trained in basic professional nomenclature and terminology, compositional and layout principles, and the typology of historical architecture.

Credit and exam. Attendance (minimum 75%). Active participation in classes. Careful independent study of basic professional literature. Preparation of a seminar paper in the form of a 3-5 page report on operational documentation. Passing a cognitive exam test.
