Course content
Bases of European civilization. The creation of Europe. Universalistic and Christian Europe, and the main European projects. Europe in the Baroque Period and the Age of Reason. Europe of national states and "Europeanship". Central Europe as a frequent region of integration plans. The Central European democratic union of W. Wilson and T. G. Masaryk.

Learning outcomes
The aim of this course is to broaden the student's knowledge about the European Union. It focuses on the history of the European idea and involves work with original sources of the particular periods. As a result, students have a better understanding of the meaning and the necessity of European integration for the vitality of European society and are able to interpret the relevant problems and to understand current discussions about the Union.
Student will gain the ability to understand importance and necessity of European integration for European society viability. Student will be able to interprete and understand actual problems and discussions about EU.

Home assignment evaluation

Credit is dependent upon both the written and presented versions of the semester paper on the assigned topic. Completion of courses EVU 1 and EVU 2 is expected - this course is primarily for students of Historical Studies in the Mgr. program.
