Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the course is to present the gradual transformation of the hierarchically organized modern society in the 17th and 18th centuries. Using the approaches of historical anthropology, the modern society will be treated as a coexistence of several cultures and life-worlds, namely the world of the secular elites (the monarch and the nobility), the world of the religious elites (archbishops, bishops and monastery superiors), the world of the bourgeoisie (merchants and craftsmen) and the world of the peasantry (folk culture). In particular, we will show the changes that took place in the second half of the 18th century, when the state's control over society was significantly strengthened and the role of court society weakened.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Oral examination, Work-related product analysis
The course will end with an oral examination. In the exam, the student must bring a list of at least 10 titles of literature studied (at least one of which must be in a foreign language) and draw one of ten questions corresponding to the topics covered in the semester.
