Course content
Definition of basic terms - feminism, gender, women's question, emancipation, equal opportunities. Gender constructs in history. Gender and personality of man. Health and illness. Sexualities. Gender and society. Gender and work market. Gender and law. Gender in media. Gender and language. Gender socialization. Gender and school education. Gender aspekts of globalization.

Monologic (reading, lecture, briefing), Dialogic (discussion, interview, brainstorming)
Learning outcomes
The aim of this course is to explain and analyse the term "gender" as a social construct of sex, feminity and masculinity, its historical trasformations and its diverse forms in various cultures and social strata.
Students will be able to understand gender studies on a general level.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written examination

Expert essay and presentation. Assignment: Gender is everywhere around us. It structures interactions among people, it affects people´s biographies, it is projected onto social structures, in form of gender stereotypes it is reflected in various products of human activity. Find some gender- interesting example (advertising, statistics, article in newspaper) and analyse it. For the analysis use literature you read or specialized websites.
