Learning outcomes
|
The course is focused on the history of the Romanov family during the years 1613-1917. The main attention is devoted to the personalities of the rulers and their role in the political life of Russia. The lectures are focused on the culture role of the emperors/empresses, on their attribution to the creation and transformation of the monarchy's image, on the role of symbols and rituals (the coronations, weddings, funerals), and on the private life of the tsars (the education of the throne pretenders etc.).
Students will be able to evaluate the importance of the Romanov dynasty in the Russian history, to analyze its role in the monarchy's image transformation and in the Russia's political culture changes.
