Course content
Methods of measuring the relationship between variables (quantitative and qualitative). Regression analysis. Correlation analysis. Contingency table. Methods of analysis of economic time series. A simple analysis of time series. Conventional modeling of trend and seasonality. Adaptive methods. Methods of statistical comparisons (indexes and differences and their analysis).

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monologic (reading, lecture, briefing), Dialogic (discussion, interview, brainstorming), Work with text (with textbook, with book), Methods of individual activities
Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to teach students the principles of exploration based metric and categorical data (regression, correlation, contingency tables), then the basic methods of time series analysis and principles of statistical comparison (indices and differences, volume and price indices of current economic practice). Simultaneously, the students learn to work with advanced statistical analysis in the software Statictica 10 and learn how to use the Excel for statistics.
Students will be able to apply statistical methods in time series research and in measuring the relationship between variables (quantitative and qualitative).
Prerequisites
Successful completion of the course are in the range of knowledge of mathematics taught at universities and subject area STA1.

Assessment methods and criteria
Home assignment evaluation, Student performance assessment, Presentation

Credit: Elaboration of given tasks, passing a control test. Also student must complete one task of developing a regression analysis of time series economic data. Requirement is to obtain at least half of the possible points of control and test task. Examination: None.
