Learning outcomes |
The aim of course is to extend the student`s knowledge in area of natural compounds. The course units are focused on tasks of preparation, structure and chemical and biological properties of peptides, proteins, saccharides, lipids, vitamins, nucleic acid, alkaloids, terpenoids and steroids. Each type of these compounds is introduced and their properties, preparation and chemical behavior are lectured.
The students are able to understand basic processes proceeding in living systems. They should gain the knowledge from synthesis, structure, biological and chemical properties of natural compounds. |
Prerequisites |
The basic knowledge of organic chemistry (especially nomenclature, stereochemistry, reaction mechanisms and reactivity of organic compounds) is necessary for passing of the course unit.
